A pub on the Fort William high street, with whiskies on the wall, beer on the taps and a kitchen that runs from noon till ten.
Dark wood, stripped wood floors, a row of whiskies on the back bar and an upstairs restaurant for when the table needs a tablecloth.
The Malt Man sits on Fort William's high street, in the building that has welcomed travellers and locals as The Grog & Gruel for years. Today the kitchen runs a proper pub menu — pies, burgers, wings, hot dogs and a daily soup-and-sandwich — alongside cask beer, wine and a long list of single malts.
It is the sort of place a couple drops in for a quiet plate, a family stops for a hearty lunch, and a group of friends ends up staying for one more round. Children, dogs and walking boots all welcome.

"Absolutely delicious food! Randomly came across it visiting Fort William — prices are extremely good value and food was absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend the steak and ale pie.
"Cracking pub meal, great staff and excellent value for money. We had the nachos to start and steak pie and chips. Highly recommend — nice, hearty, homemade cooked.
"Made a booking for Christmas Eve dinner — something local pub like. Place was cosy, friendly, and we were the only obvious foreigners; yet felt comfortable. Service was warm, the beef and stout pie was the winner of the night.
